Emre Can to Juventus: Liverpool star's contract talks stall as Italians eye free transfer

JUVENTUS are prepared to wait until 2018 to sign Emre Can for free with the Liverpool star unlikely to sign a contract extension.

That's according to Italian outlet Tuttosport who claim Can has no intention of signing a new deal at Liverpool.

Can has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Liverpool and negotiations between the club and player have stalled in recent weeks.

This has led to rumours linking the Serie A champions with a move for the Germany international.

It was reported that Juventus were prepared to make a £30.4m bid to tempt Liverpool into cashing in the summer.

Juventus are confident of signing Liverpool star Emre Can for free next summer

But the report now claims Juventus are confident they can sign Can for free in a year's time.

Jurgen Klopp is be keen to tie Can down to a new deal to avoid the midfielder leaving for nothing at the end of the season.

And the Liverpool boss recently revealed he is confident a contract will be agreed following "good talks" over his future.

"You can imagine we're involved in talks and we all feel good and confident in this moment," Klopp said.

"That means they're not the worst talks but until anything is done or signed there's nothing to say."

Can returned to Melwood yesterday after an extended break following his summer commitments with Germany at the Confederations Cup.
