Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirms Alexis Sanchez will return to training on Sunday

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alexis Sanchez will return to training on Sunday.

Alexis Sanchez dismantles Australia with stunning solo run

Alexis Sanchez and defender Shkodran Mustafi both missed out on Arsenal's pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East this month.

The duo were given an extended break following their exploits at the Confederations Cup.

But Wenger has now given the clearest indication yet that Sanchez will be staying with the Gunners.

Wenger said: “Alexis and Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla [in the Emirates Cup].

“They are practising on the day.”

With his current deal expiring next summer, Arsenal face the prospect of losing the former Barcelona star for free in less than 12 months' time.

Wenger insists the Chilean won't be sold but Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are circling around him.

However, Sanchez now looks set to return to training as normal this weekend and could even feature in the Emirates Cup.

Arsenal will take on Benfica on Saturday (4.20pm) before facing Sevilla on Sunday (4.20pm).

That will be the north London outfit's last pre-season match before they face Chelsea at Wembley in the Community Shield on August 6 (2pm).
