Liverpool plot £70m Naby Keita bid in coming days at Jurgen Klopp's request

LIVERPOOL will make one final attempt to sign Naby Keita in the coming days with a £70million bid.

Liverpool transfer target Keita's Leipzig highlights

Jurgen Klopp has identified the RB Leipzig winger as a priority target this summer but has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts to sign him.

Liverpool have already had two bids of £57m and £66m rejected by Leipzig for the Guinea international.

But the Daily Mirror claim Klopp is pushing the Liverpool board to make a last ditch effort to get Leipzig to do business.

Keita is also keen on a move to Anfield and has told his representatives to force through a deal.

The report adds Klopp will only look elsewhere if he has exhausted all possibilities to sign the 22-year-old.

Naby Keita is attracting strong interest from Liverpool

But the Reds face a tough task in prising him away from Germany with the club's sporting director Ralph Rangnick insisting the winger, along with team-mate Emil Forsberg, won't be sold during the transfer window.

“It is important for us that these two players play next season with us. And I can assure you that. This is the only thing I know for sure,” he said.

“Even if there are still five more offers, this will not change our position. Perhaps not all have understood this.

"Even if the player were a classic car, I would not sell him as a classic car. He [Keita] knows that I appreciate him a lot.”

The Daily Mirror adds Klopp could turn to Schalke's Leon Goretzka if his final attempt so sign Keita fails.

But Liverpool could be too late on Goretzka with the German on the verge of signing for Bayern Munich.
