Arsenal have doctors visit Alexis Sanchez to verify flu claim amid transfer speculation

ARSENAL sent doctors to check up on Alexis Sanchez to ensure there was no foul play over his illness claims.

Gabriele Marcotti says Alexis Sanchez could still leave Arsenal

The Chile international has still not returned to training following his extended holiday after the Confederations Cup.

Sanchez missed Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Australia and China.

And the club were expecting to have him back today at their London Colney training complex for his first session of the new season.

The 28-year-old, though, posted a picture on Instagram earlier this week of him looking poorly with the caption “sick”.

Suspicions were raised, especially among Arsenal fans, over the credibility of Sanchez’s claim with his future at the club still very much up in the air.

Alexis Sanchez is expected to finally return to Arsenal training on Tuesday

Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all in the hunt for his signature.

And according to the Sunday Mirror, Arsenal decided to get their own doctors to go and confirm he has the flu.

The Gunners have declined to comment with Arsene Wenger focused on the Emirates Cup this weekend.

Arsenal take on Sevilla in their second match this afternoon (4.20pm), with Sanchez staying away from the Emirates and training.

However, Wenger said yesterday he expects to see Sanchez back by Tuesday, despite his illness and ongoing transfer saga.

Express Sport understands PSG will make a £35million bid once they seal a deal for Barcelona superstar Neymar.

But Wenger insisted yesterday: “He has flu. I had him on text [on Friday], he will come back as soon as possible.

“We were in touch with him and his doctor.

“No basic problem except he should come back tomorrow [Sunday] but now he comes back Tuesday.”

Arsenal’s decision to send their own doctors to visit Sanchez, though, indicates they feel their could be a possibility of him looking to force through a transfer.

Alexis Sanchez now has less than 12 months left on his current deal, but Arsenal are prepared to see him run out his contract in a bid to help get them back into the Champions League.
