Liverpool reject £89m Coutinho bid

20:50: Liverpool have rejected a £89million bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho, according to reports in France.

RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi, wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have rejected a €100m (£89m) bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.”

Barcelona’s new bid comes after Liverpool turned down a £72m bid for the Brazilian playmaker last week.

Van Dijk deal nears

19.30: Liverpool have ramped up their efforts to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to the Daily Mail.

The report says the transfer is still very much on the cards and Saints have begun looking for a replacement.

Mauricio Pellegrino's side are said to be in talks with Lazio regarding a £12m move for Wesley Hoedt.

Klopp rules out Coutinho move

15:50: Jurgen Klopp insists Philippe Coutinho is NOT for sale at any price as Barcelona look to sign the Liverpool star.

He said: ”Coutinho is not available for sale. There is no other interpretation. There is nothing new."

Neymar is set to travel to Qatar for a medical with the owners of Paris Saint-Germain as his world-record transfer from Barcelona becomes reality.

The MailOnline say Barca directors are now privately admitting there is ‘no chance’ the Brazil superstar will stay at the Nou Camp.

Neymar was pictured with compatriot Hulk in Shanghai today after arriving in China for commerical commitments.

But his flight back to Europe is routed through Qatar where is is set to stop off for a medical and then on to Paris where he could be unveiled by PSG as early as Wednesday.

Gigi praises Salah

13:50: Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is impressed by how quickly new signing Mohamed Salah has adapted to manager Juergen Klopp's high energy style.

Salah was on target in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, lifting Philippe Coutinho's pinpoint lobbed pass over the keeper for his third goal since signing from Roma last month.

He said: "He's really flying. He has settled in really well. He's not only a great player but also a great person, and that makes it easier for him but also for us to accept him."

Solanke will succeed for Liverpool - Redknapp 

13:15: Dominic Solanke can offer a lot to Liverpool, according to Harry Redknapp.

Liverpool snapped up Solanke from Chelsea this summer after the 19-year-old opted to see out his contract at Stamford Bridge.

And Redknapp believes Liverpool, who will owe Chelsea a tribunal fee given his age, have got themselves a real talent in Solanke.

The Birmingham boss told The Sun: "I like the fact they have got Dominic Solanke in for a tribunal fee from Chelsea.

"He’s a real prospect, and at 6ft 1in, a big boy so, while Mo Salah is serious money and is very decent, the youngster can offer a lot."

Rafinha on Klopp's radar

12:35: Liverpool are ready to offer up to £36million for Barcelona star Rafinha.

Jurgen Klopp has already broken Liverpool's transfer record with the signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma but the German is keen to add more attacking threat to his side.

And Barcelona star Rafinha is the man at the top of his wishlist.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, claim Klopp is keen to bring him to Anfield and the Reds are now willing to make an offer of £26.8m (€30m) and £35.8m (€40m) to secure a deal this summer.

Liverpool are ready to make the first move after reports suggested Arsenal, Tottenham, Inter Milan and AC Milan were all showing interest.

And with that in mind Klopp has now told Liverpool's sporting director Michael Edwards to get the deal done.

Barca are actively pursuing Philippe Coutinho and the Reds hope any negotiations surrounding the 25-year-old's future would not impact on a deal for Rafinha.

Neymar texting Coutinho could mean bad news for Liverpool

11:30: Neymar is trying to convince Philippe Coutinho to snub Barcelona in favour of Paris St-Germain, reports claim.

Neymar is seemingly on the verge of joining Paris St-Germain, while Barcelona have identified Liverpool playmaker Coutinho to replace him.

However, Spanish newspaper Sport claim Neymar has been texting Coutinho on WhatsApp - asking him to snub Barca and wait for PSG to make an approach.

It's said Neymar has urged the PSG board to make further signings to strengthen the squad, and Coutinho was one of the names on their shortlist.

Lallana embraces competition

10:45: Adam Lallana says he welcomes the increased competition at Liverpool this season.

The Reds have strengthen with the signings of Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke, but Lallana says their arrivals will only help him improve.

He said: "I want the best players to be linked with Liverpool and coming to Liverpool.

“If you are talking about it from a personal point of view, the pressure to get better and the competition for places is healthy. That is what we need."

Virgil accepts Southampton stay

10:00: Southampton are growing optimistic Virgil van Dijk will not leave for Liverpool and accept he will stay for another season.

Van Dijk told manager Mauricio Pellegrino he wanted to leave, leading to the captain being banished to train alone.

The manager has been preparing for the new campaign with the plan to partner Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens at the start.

However, The Daily Echo claim Southampton are hopeful Van Dijk will re-join the squad in full training this week.

It is said the club feel the Dutchman may have come to the realisation he will have to prepare to carry on playing at St Mary's.

Pellegrino will apparently speak to Van Dijk this week in the hope of positive talks which will see him reintegrated with the team.

Liverpool hijack Arsenal swoop

09:00: Liverpool have entered the race for Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

The talented midfielder has been the subject of interest from Arsenal in recent weeks with the Gunners prepared to break the bank to bring him to north London.

Monaco are determined to keep hold of him, having already sold midfielders Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silvathis summer.

But Arsenal are determined to prise him away from France and Lemar is keen on a move to north London.

However, French publication Le10 Sport claim the Gunners will be battling Liverpool for his signature.

They claim the Reds are making plans in case Philippe Coutinho leaves for Barcelona and Lemar coming in as his replacement is a possibility.

Liverpool are yet to make contact with the French side or Lemar's representatives but he has been sounded out as a potential target.

Klopp: £300m for Keita...

08:00: Jurgen Klopp has found time in his busy pre-seasons schedule to poke fun at the Naby Keita rumours.

Klopp's hopes of signing the RB Leipzig midfielder appear to have ended having seen three bids rejected.

RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl also confirmed that Keita will “100 per cent” remain with the Bundesliga outfit.

Klopp responded by having a joke during a press conference when saying: "Our next offer for Keita is €300m!" 

Barca want Ozil…

07:15: Barcelona could turn their attentions to Mesut Ozil if Philippe Coutinho stays at Liverpool.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, who say they are ready to pay £53million to get a deal done. 

Coutinho remains their top target, however Liverpool are so far proving stubborn negotiators.

Barcelona also like the idea of signing Ozil given how popular he was for fierce rivals Real Madrid.

07:00: Liverpool will wait another year to sign RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Reds have seen three offers for the 22-year-old Guinea international rejected by the Bundesliga outfit, who insist he's 100% staying.

But Carragher believes there WON'T be an alternative signing this summer because Klopp would rather wait 12 months to get his man.

“Regarding Keita, I don’t think that Jurgen Klopp will go out and buy another midfielder,” he told 5times.co.uk.

“I think he would be willing to wait until next season as supposedly Naby Keita has a buyout clause.”

Italian website Calcio Mercato claim the Serie A giants are preparing to make a move for the Guinea international.

Keita has been on the Reds’ radar all summer long.
