Nemanja Matic to Manchester United: Deal is done, everything has been agreed - Jim White

Matic is expected to become Jose Mourinho’s third summer signing when he completes his £40million move from Chelsea.

And Sky Sports presenter White, hosting his show on talkSPORT this morning, says the deal has been finalised.

He said: “A deal has been done as far as I gather.

“It’s all agreed and it’s a question of when Manchester United now come out and announce it.”

Matic has already undergone a medical at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground.

The 28-year-old was pictured in a grey United training top yesterday with the number 31 on it.

The No.31 was vacated by Bastian Schweinsteiger in March when he left Old Trafford for MLS side Chicago Fire.

Matic’s favoured number is 21, having worn that for the last seven seasons with Chelsea and Benfica.

The Serbia international also dons 21 for his country - but at United Ander Herrera has that shirt.

Mourinho has been looking for a long-term replacement for 36-year-old club captain Michael Carrick.

And Matic is now set to join up with the Manchester United squad after being left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour to China.

The Red Devils had earmarked Matic to make his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid on August 8.

But he could come into contention for a place in their squad for the friendly with Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday.
