Arsenal fans slam the Gunners after their 'embarrassing' Emirates Cup victory
Some Arsenal supporters have slammed their team on Twitter after the Gunners were awarded the Emirates Cup despite losing to La Liga outfit Sevilla.
The competition, hosted at the Emirates Stadium and organised by Arsenal’s main sponsor, rewarded goals as well as a win with points.
Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Benfica on Saturday ensured Arsene Wenger’s side finished joint top with nine points, despite losing 2-1 to Sevilla yesterday.
The Gunners were awarded the pre-season trophy due to their superior goal difference, causing fans to kick off at the injustice of the format.
