Rashford, 19, struggled for game time at Manchester United last season, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of him in the pecking order.

Ibrahimovic has since left Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho has moved to replace the Swede with the £75million signing of Lukaku from Everton.

However, Redknapp has questioned Mourinho's relationship with Lukaku after the United boss sold the striker during his time at Chelsea.

And the Birmingham manager has backed Rashford to kick off this season as Mourinho looks to clinch the Premier League title.

I will be looking for a lot from young Marcus Rashford

He told The Sun: "United are another team under huge pressure to be competing for that title — and they will.

"They’ve got a top manager and he’s got an open cheque book.

"United have some quality players and I will be looking for a lot from young Marcus Rashford.

"The 19-year-old has got so many top qualities, plus great pace and I think he will kick on.

"Romelu Lukaku will be a crucial factor because when he was at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho let him go so he couldn’t have been in love with him that much.

"Now he’s bought him you hope he comes in and does the business. He’s got big boots to fill because the other fella, Zlatan, was fantastic."
