Andre Gomes to Manchester United: Bookies make Red Devils favourites to sign Barcelona man

MANCHESTER UNITED are favourites to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to bookmakers BetStars.

Andre Gomes scores screamer for Valencia

Manchester United have been big spenders this summer, bringing in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and most recently Nemanja Matic.

However, the Red Devils have not finished conducting their transfer business as Jose Mourinho admitted there are four targets on his shortlist.

And according to bookmakers BetStars, Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes will be Mourinho's next addition.

The Old Trafford club are favourites to land the Portugal international at 3/1, ahead of rivals Chelsea at 7/1 and Valencia at 14/1.

Andre Gomes has struggled to settle at Barcelona

“Jose Mourinho seems to have set his sights on signing fellow countryman Andre Gomes from Barcelona this summer in a bid to bolster his attacking options ahead of the start of the new season," BetStars Director Ian Marmion said.

"The 23-year-old struggled to make an impact in his debut season at the Nou Camp last term.

"And the Catalans are reportedly willing to let the young midfielder go, which has put the Red Devils on high alert.

"United currently lead the chase to land the Portugal international at 3/1, ahead of rivals Chelsea at 7/1, while Valencia are priced at 14/1 to make a move for their former protege.”

Speaking last month about United's summer transfer business, Mourinho admitted his ideal number of new signings would be four.

"We always want more. We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window,” he said.

"A long time ago, we thought about four players to strengthen our squad, but it is really hard to do it.

"The market ends on Aug 31, so there is plenty of time but obviously the objective for me as manager is always to have the players as soon as possible."
