Arsenal should pay Alexis Sanchez the wages he wants to keep him - Perry Groves

ARSENAL should cave into Alexis Sanchez's wage demands and pay him £350,000 a week, according to Gunners legend Perry Groves.

Gabriele Marcotti says Alexis Sanchez could still leave Arsenal

Sanchez returned to Arsenal training yesterday but his future in north London remains unclear, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain circling.

The Chile star's contract expires in 11 months time and, despite the Gunners' best efforts, they have been unable to tie him down to an extension.

City are hellbent on making him the latest player to move to the Etihad, and reports are suggesting that Sanchez is keen to make the switch.

However, Express Sport understands PSG will go in for him once they have wrapped up a world-record £196million deal for Barcelona's Neymar.

If Alexis wants £350k a week, then give it to him

Sanchez is said to want a dizzying salary to commit to staying at Arsenal.

And club legend Groves think Arsene Wenger should swallow his pride and pay him whatever the player wants.

"I wouldn't sell either player [Sanchez or Mesut Ozil]," he told bwin.

"If Alexis wants £350k a week, then give it to him.

"I would keep them both until January and see where the club is then.

"If we're challenging for the title, then risk keeping them.

"You don't need to worry about Alexis' attitude on pitch, he doesn't know any other way than to fight.

"Arsene's comments on players playing for new contracts is right in a way, as players will be thinking about making their respective national teams ahead of the World Cup next summer."
