Liverpool are still in the mix to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappe - reports in France

LIVERPOOL are reportedly still among the clubs keen to sign Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for the teenager, who struck 26 goals as Monaco won Ligue 1 last season.

Few had heard of the 18-year-old this time last year but, 12 months down the line, he is one of Europe's most in-demand players.

Real Madrid and Manchester City are keen to snap him up, despite Monaco slapping a huge £160million price tag on him.

Liverpool were credited with interest earlier this summer but recent reports have suggested Jurgen Klopp has instead been focusing his efforts on RB Leipzig's Naby Keita and Southampton's Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool remain in a transfer battle for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe

Yet French newspaper L'Equipe say the Reds still remain in the battle to secure his signature.

Klopp has already completed transfers for Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke but the Reds are still crying out for a striker.

And Mbappe would fit the bill after impressing for Leonardo Jardim's side.

However, Real Madrid are named as frontrunners for his signature.

Manager Zinedine Zidane is desperate to bring his compatriot to the Bernabeu, despite already having Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema at his disposal.

City are spearheading the race to sign the France international.

Pep Guardiola has spent big this summer as he aims to win the club a first Premier League title since 2014, when Manuel Pellegrini was in charge.

The Spaniard already possesses attacking stars such as Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus but seemingly finds the prospect of signing Mbappe too good to turn down.
