Wilkins: Rooney's arrival at Everton makes Barkley exit likely

Swansea are resigned to losing Sigurdsson and expect the Icelandic star to join Everton for £50m before the weekend.

Ronald Koeman has already splashed out nearly £100m with Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaasen arriving for big money.

Pickford and Keane both cost £30m, Klassen was £23.6m while Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez, Henry Onyekuru, Josh Bowler and Cuco Martina have also arrived.

And The Mirror say Everton will take their summer outlay towards £200m by wrapping up a deal for Sigurdsson and making TWO more signings.

Express Sport understands talks between the Toffees and Swansea are continuing with a £50m resolution expected in the next few days.

Transfer News: Everton are set to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea

And with Sigurdsson’s move taking spending towards £150m, Everton are prepared to keep going with a new striker and centre-back wanted.

Koeman is interested in Arsenal hitman Olivier Giroud and Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke.

The Dutchman also wants another defender with Ashley Willians turning 33 and Phil Jagielka hitting 35 this month.

Everton have offset their spending with Romelu Lukaku’s £90m departure to Manchester United and hope to raise more funds by flogging Ross Barkley before the transfer window shuts.

Swans boss Paul Clement admitted Sigurdsson was on his way to Everton after the 27-year-old trained at the Liberty Stadium yesterday.

“Gylfi will not play against Sampdoria on Saturday,” he said.

"Talks are still going on and hopefully we are going to get some news in the next couple of days.

“We have a very, very important season coming up and the deal needs to be the best one for all parties involved.

"We know what happened last season if you don’t make a good start and we don’t want that to happen again.

"We want to make a good start and everyone wants to know what our squad is going to be going into the first game of the season.”
