Tim Fosu-Mensah to Crystal Palace: Frank De Boer wants reunion with popular Man Utd star

FRANK DE BOER wants to reunite with Manchester United midfielder Tim Fosu-Mensah at Crystal Palace, according to reports.

Matic: I can't wait to start training with Manchester United

Fosu-Mensah has emerged as a Manchester United fan favourite since making his debut against Arsenal under Louis van Gaal in February 2016.

The Dutchman is highly rated by manager Jose Mourinho but, nearly 18 months after his first appearance, his best position remains a mystery.

Both Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho have utilised him at the back - despite Fosu-Mensah being a natural central midfielder.

As a result, he could leave on loan to secure regular game time to help aid his development.

Crystal Palace want to sign Manchester United defender Tim Fosu-Mensah on loan

And The Sun say De Boer, who was Ajax manager when Fosu-Mensah was at the club, is interested in bringing him to Crystal Palace.

It is said the Eagles have agreed a £20million fee for defender Callum Chambers, whose time at the Emirates is set to end this month.

But De Boer will only sign off the deal if he receives no encouragement that United will let Fosu-Mensah leave on loan.

Like Van Gaal and Mourinho, the Dutchman plans to play the 19-year-old in defence. Palace will likely adopt a 3-4-3 formation for the forthcoming season.

His first choice was originally Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, but the Reds' decision to demand £30million for him has prevented a second spell at Selhurst Park from happening.

Watford have also been accredited with an interest in Fosu-Mensah, with Marco Silva an admirer.
