Miguel Delaney: There's talk Man Utd have got new encouragement about signing Gareth Bale

MANCHESTER UNITED have been handed fresh hope in signing Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, according to journalist Miguel Delaney.

Bale has been continually linked with a return to the Premier League since he left Tottenham four years ago for Real Madrid in a then-world record £85million deal.

And this summer is no different, with Real reportedly considering selling the Wales international in order to raise funds for Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe.

Manchester United looks to be Bale's most likely destination should he leave the Bernabeu.

And The Independent's Delaney claims United have been handed fresh 'encouragement' in their pursuit, but added a deal is unlikely to happen.

Delaney was asked by one of his followers on Twitter: "Heard anything about Bale today? Always been a dream signing of mine so excited but sceptical."

And Delaney replied: "It is still lingering, and there's talk United have been given new encouragement but I can't see it now."

United manager Jose Mourinho recently admitted it would be a waste of time to try and lure Bale back to England as he's happy in Spain.

"He was never on my list," Mourinho said of the 28-year-old. "It is clear Bale likes Madrid.

"He is in a very good situation. I never felt a desire from him to leave. So why lose time and energy on that?"

Mourinho is keen to improve his options on the flanks though, with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic said to be top of his wishlist.
