La Liga president Javier Tebas: We would have let Neymar join Manchester United

LA LIGA president Javier Tebas has claimed they would have had no problems letting Neymar join Manchester United after attempting to stop his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar lands in France for PSG transfer

Neymar's £200million transfer record deal was completed on Thursday and the Brazilian has been unveiled as a PSG player this afternoon.

In Spain, a player must buy himself out of his contract and La Liga attempted to stop the move by claiming it violated UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

But eventually, the Brazil international's lawyers paid the buy-out clause in person at Barca's offices last night.

Manchester United tried to sign Neymar last summer with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward understood to have the attacker on a list of ‘fantasy signings’ which included Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Thomas Muller.

And Tebas has revealed United would have had no problem in signing Neymar from Barcelona.

He told Catalan radio station RAC 1: "It is a contractual relationship between Barca and the player.

"If Neymar goes to the club and deposits €222million (£220.5m) Barca will have no choice but to accept it.

"What we want to understand is the origin of this €222m, if it is illegal.

"If Manchester United were to come, there would be no problems, we would have nothing to say because it is not a doped club.

"PSG is a state-run club and we have to end this situation as soon as possible."
