MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER NEWS: ALL THE DONE DEALS AND GOSSIP FROM OLD TRAFFORD

Sunday August 6

Dendoncker wants Anderlecht exit

22:00: Manchester United have been linked with Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker all summer.

And his agent has now confirmed he wants to leave the Belgian giants.

"Anderlecht want to keep him but the kid wants a new challenge," Christopher Henrotay told Foot Mercato.

"We'll see if we can find an agreement with the club, but that seems difficult."

Three clubs want Turner

18:08: Manchester United target Jake Turner has Everton and Tottenham also chasing his signature.

United have been on Bolton goalkeeper Turner’s case for months.

But no bid has yet been lodged and now United’s Premier League rivals are sniffing out the stopper.

The Sun claim Spurs scouts have been at Bolton’s last two reserve games.

Everton are also said to be interested in the 18-year-old England youth international.

Bale wants Real Madrid exit

17:09: Gareth Bale has reportedly told Luka Modric he is ready to quit Real Madrid.

Don Balon - the Spanish transfer site - claim Bale has messaged Modric on WhatsApp to tell him he’s off.

Wales star Bale is wanted at Manchester United, although a £90m move is likely to be next summer.

However, with Real eyeing Kylian Mbappe a deal this month may occur.

Express Sport understands Chelsea are also keen on him.

Lampard on Matic

16:49: Frank Lampard has questioned Chelsea’s decision to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.

“It's a strange one,” he said on BT Sport.

“Such a huge part of Chelsea's play last year was Kante and Matic being the base in centre-midfield.

“It let the wing-backs fly on, it let Pedro and Willian and Hazard have freedom to go forward.

“Fabregas was a big player for them last year, sometimes as an impact player.

“Bakayako, it remains to be seen if he can be that positional player that Matic was.

“I think one of the frustrations will be that and he'll want to bring someone else in in midfield.”

Fabinho wanted

14:53: Jose Mourinho has reportedly set his sights on Monaco’s versatile Fabinho, who was key in helping his side to the Ligue 1 title last season.

That is according to Don Balon, who claim the United manager was initially interested in Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier before he was refused a work visa for England.

Gomes available

14:10: Manchester United target Andre Gomes is available for €35million (£31.6m) this summer.

Spanish publication Marca claim Barcelona would be willing to do business if they came in with a respectable offer.

United face competition from Juventus for his signature though.

Chelsea regret

10:44: Chelsea have made a mistake selling Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, says Graeme Souness.

Chelsea sold Matic to United in a £40million deal this summer.

But Souness is not convinced it was good business from the Blues.

“I have some criticism of the Serb — I would like to see him become more of a box-to-box player, contributing more goals (remember that brilliant strike against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final),” Souness wrote in the Sunday Times.

"But he has a great workrate, doesn't give the ball away and was an integral part of two title-winning teams.

"At 29 he is at his peak and I would not have sold him.

"Or, if I did want to move him on, it would not have been to Old Trafford because it only strengthens one of Chelsea's rivals.

"A stronger United makes life harder for Chelsea and I expect Manchester City to do better this season."

Man City Bale battle

05:40: Manchester United now face competition from neighbours Manchester City too for Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid are reportedly rushing to sell the Wales forward to fund a move for Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe.

And according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Pep Guardiola has switched his focus from landing Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to getting Bale.

Chelsea, United and City are now all after the Madrid man, and the latter two are prepared to pay £90m.

Jose Mourinho has pushed hardest so far, but City are in the fight with Sanchez proving to complicated to sign this summer.

Mourinho hits £1bn mark

02:45: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has become the first manager in football history to spend more than £1billion on transfers.

According to the Daily Mail, the £75m acquisition of Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer saw him exceed the £1bn mark.

Mourinho has now spent just over £1.1bn in his 17 years of management, during his time at the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Manchester City boss and Mourinho's rival Pep Guardiola has spent £859m in just over half the time, though.

Chelsea competition for Bale

23:50: Express Sport understands Chelsea are now serious contenders in the hunt for Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale.

The Welshman's future is in some doubt at the Bernabeu, with Manchester United keen to lure him away from Spain.

Should Kylian Mbappe sign from Monaco, Bale could be sold with Florentino Perez prepared to do business.

While United would prefer to wait until next summer to make their move, Antonio Conte is eyeing four more additions and has the funds to go after Bale.

Pogba targets Bolt

21:35: Paul Pogba is still busy at work in his role as 'Agent P' and is targeting a move for Usain Bolt!

The midfielder dubbed himself Agent P earlier in the summer due to the role he played in swaying Romelu Lukaku to snub Chelsea and join him at Old Trafford.

And after revealing on Twitter earlier this afternoon that 'Agent P never sleeps,' he took to social media again to reveal sprint superstar Bolt is his next target.

He tweeted: "Who's watching @usainbolt race tonight? qui regarde @usainbolt ce soir? #AgentP #London2017 #BeTheNext."

Perisic struggle

20:00: Manchester United are struggling to complete a deal for Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.

Sky Sports News reporter Aiden Magee says a deal doesn’t look like being finalised any time soon.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre, Magee said: "Their hopes of signing Ivan Perisic look increasingly difficult."

Man Utd eye Roberto

17:20: Manchester United and Chelsea are both willing to meet Sergi Roberto's £36million release clause.

The Barcelona midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp following the arrival of Ernesto Valverde.

And Spanish publication Don Balon claim United, Chelsea and Monaco are all prepared to pay his buy-out clause in order to prise him away from his homeland.

Perisic contract latest

16:00: Manchester United target Ivan Perisic is negotiating a new contract at Inter Milan.

But the Croatia international is not guaranteed to sign the deal.

United want to sign Perisic, with Inter hoping fresh terms will keep him away from the Red Devils.

But the player and the club are split over his wages.

Mediaset Premium claim Perisic wants £104,000 a week at the San Siro - almost double his current terms.

But Inter are only willing to go as high as £86,000 a week.

Varela set to leave

15:20: Guillermo Varela's Manchester United career looks set to come to an end with the 24-year-old set to re-join Penarol.

The Manchester Evening News claim Varela's spell at Old Trafford will now come to an end with United reaching an agreement with the Uruguayan side.

Despite joining the Red Devils in 2013 under David Moyes, he managed just 11 first-team appearances for the Red Devils.

Serge Aurier blow

10:46: Manchester United could miss out on Serge Aurier as Inter Milan eye the defender.

United supposedly have a £27m agreement in place to sign Aurier.

They cannot yet compete a deal as he would require permission to work in the UK due to a previous arrest last year.

But Tuttosport claim Inter may scupper the deal anyway as they prepare a rival offer.

It is claimed Inter don’t want to pay PSG’s asking price.

But the fee could be reduced if Joao Mario is included in the swap deal.

Man Utd's Bale interest

09:17: Manchester United are interested in signing Gareth Bale… THIS summer.

Express Sport understands United are keen on Bale but were realistic about their chances of securing the player before deadline day.

United were set to put Bale on the back burner until the end of the season and then make a bid for the Real Madrid star.

But the Daily Star claim a £90m offer could come in before the month is out.

Jose Mourinho has already spent £140m on new players in pre-season.

Ivan Perisic boost

08:32: Manchester United can sign Ivan Perisic this summer if Inter Milan find an adequate replacement first.

Inter don’t want to sell Perisic and have slapped a £48m transfer fee on his head.

United are yet to meet that fee but could launch an improved bid this month.

And Italian journalist Giorgio Micheletti claims Angel Di Maria has been targeted by Milan as Perisic’s replacement.

"For a while he has been linked with Inter,” Micheletti told TMW when discussing Di Maria.

“It would be an interesting purchase and would increase the quality of the squad.

“However, his arrival could liberate Perisic and see him head to Manchester United."

PSG are willing to sell Di Maria and the player is supposedly open to a switch as well.

Barcelona and Bayern interest

07:30: Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.

United are ready to sell Darmian, with manager Jose Mourinho supposedly keen to sign PSG’s Serge Aurier.

Darmian played a bit-part role in United’s campaign last season and the Italy international is second choice behind Antonio Valencia at right-back.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim both Barca and Bayern are seeking full-backs and Darmian has been earmarked as a viable target.

Barca have not fully replaced Dani Alves, who left the club last summer, and are flush with cash after selling Neymar to PSG in a £200m on Wednesday.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (right) is set to join Leeds

Leeds United medical

07:00: Manchester United have agreed a loan move for Cameron Bothwick-Jackson, who will join Leeds for a season after completing his medical.

The deal is yet to be confirmed but the left-back has headed to West Yorkshire to complete his switch.

Bothwick-Jackson played on loan at Wolves last season and was earmarked by Leeds after they lost Charlie Taylor to Burnley.

Leeds play Bolton in their first match of the new Championship season on Sunday.

Michael Owen exclusive

06:30: Manchester United must improve in the Premier League to justify their huge spending this summer, believes Michael Owen.

United have signed three players so far for a total outlay of around £140m.

And former Old Trafford striker Owen reckons Jose Mourinho could add more players to his squad this month.

“Mourinho seems intent on buying more and more players,” Owen told Express Sport.

“Matic is very much a signing for Mourinho's time, his birthday was this week [he turned 29], it's not an investment for 10 years down the line, he's buying something for the next four or five years.

“There's a signal of intent, it's the here and the now that's important for them as well as the future in buying someone like Lukaku [24].

“But they’ve strengthened again, they needed to. They were well off the pace last season and definitely expect a better season off United this year.”
