Those are the thoughts of Jamie Carragher.

Nemanja Matic completed a £40million switch from Chelsea to just over a week ago.

The Serbian midfielder was central to the Blues’ title success last term and his switch has given United more steel in the middle of the park.

And Carragher admits he is surprised by the nature of the deal, insisting it typifies the west London outfit’s business model.

“Matic’s move to Manchester United was the perfect example of that,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“If you’re a manager you’d be saying ‘why would I let him go, especially to a rival’.

“His replacement is a 23-year-old but you don’t know how good he’ll be.

“That has been their business model going forward.”
