Thomas Lemar to Arsenal: Gunners to miss out if Mbappe seals summer transfer - report

ARSENAL face the prospect of missing out on Thomas Lemar this summer - if Kylian Mbappe seals his exit from Monaco.

Thomas Lemar skies shot and takes shockingly bad free-kick

Lemar is Arsenal’s number one target following the club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

The Gunners have already seen two bids rejected for the winger but are preparing another.

However Monaco will shut up shop for the summer should they sell Mbappe, who is wanted by Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG, according to the Sun.

Mbappe, 18, shot to stardom last season when he scored six times in the Champions League during Monaco’s route to the semi-final.

He also helped fire them to Ligue 1 glory as they overtook PSG as France’s top side.

But now the elite have come in for him and want to prise him away from the Stade Louis II.

Madrid are desperate to land the France international and Barcelona are keen on him replacing Neymar.

Manchester City are also keen and Arsenal were also interested earlier in the summer.

But the Gunners have shifted their focus to Lemar, 21, and want him to be part of their new-look attack alongside Lacazette.

But they could miss out if Mbappe is able to force his exit.

Monaco are said to want £144m for Mbappe and are keen on keeping him for another year, but it emerged last week that he wanted to leave.

Mbappe has watched on as Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko have traded France for English soil and now he wants to move on as well.

Madrid appear to be frontrunners but PSG are desperate to pair him with Neymar, while Barca want him to replace the Brazil star who moved to Paris for £198m last week.

And a move for Mbappe would mean Arsenal missing out on Lemar until next summer at the earliest.
