Chelsea are again being linked with the Tottenham defender as Antonio Conte hunts a fifth summer signing.

The Blues have already tied up deals for Antonio Rudiger, Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea are rivalling Liverpool for Southampton ace Virgil van Dijk, but whether or not the Saints let him go remains to be seen.

The Sun claim Blues chief Conte wants Rose to swap Wembley for Stamford Bridge.

And they also add that Jose Mourinho tried to sign the England international during his three-year stint in charge.

However, Tottenham blocked the deal down to a 'poisonous relationship' between both teams.

Spurs were still seething from Chelsea's decision to sign Willian from right under their noses.

The report adds relations between the two have since improved.

But, given the way they have fended off interest from England's elite for the likes of Danny Rose and Harry Kane, Spurs are unlikely to let Rose join one of their domestic rivals.
