Real Madrid stunner: Man Utd given green light by Perez to sign Bale after private talks

REAL MADRID chief Florentino Perez told Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho that Gareth Bale IS for sale despite statements to contrary, according to stunning reports from Spain.

Gareth Bale insists future is at Real Madrid after Super Cup win

Real Madrid beat Manchester United 2-1 to win the European Super Cup last night.

But, prior to kick-off in Macedonia, all that talk had been about a potential Premier League return for Bale.

The Wales international has been linked with the Red Devils all summer despite both clubs doing their utmost to quell the rising talk.

After a game that saw Isco and Casemiro strike for Los Blancos, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said his quest to sign Bale was 'over.'

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim that talks behind the scenes actually had a very different message.

Instead, Perez is said to have informed Mourinho that he is willing to let Bale go this transfer window.

The public message was: “Bale? I don’t plan on selling him.

"He’s a Madrid player, he’s important for us and he’s one of the world’s best."

But Diario Gol say Perez has recognised that Bale is disgruntled with life constantly in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez has a close relationship with Manchester United's Jose Mourinho

In a situation akin to the one that led Neymar to swap Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain, Perez knows Bale wants a move away in order to become the main man of a different team.

But the Real president is set to drive a hard bargain.

Given his public messages, he thinks that offloading Bale will only be justifiable if they accept a fee of around £180million.

Neymar's move to PSG has set the precedent for that and Mourinho now knows what he must demand from Ed Woodward if he is to finally bring Bale to Old Trafford.
