Ian Wright: Arsenal will only challenge for big trophies if they keep Alexis Sanchez

ARSENAL will only challenge for the Premier League title if they keep hold of Alexis Sanchez.

Gabriele Marcotti says Alexis Sanchez could still leave Arsenal

Those are the thoughts of Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Alexis Sanchez is entering the final year of his contract and no new deal is on the horizon.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have both been linked with moves for the Chilean.

But Wright believes it would be a shame if Sanchez leaves the Emirates this summer, as it could dent their chances of landing the big trophies.

“I’d love to keep him and add more to it,” Wright told Sky Sports.

With players like Sanchez, that’s how you’ll end up challenging for big trophies

“With players like Sanchez, that’s how you’ll end up challenging for big trophies.

“He said he wants to win the Champions League. In his mind, he doesn’t think he’ll win it with Arsenal.

“He obviously thinks that hence why he hasn’t signed a new deal.

Ian Wright thinks Arsenal must keep Alexis Sanchez

“He just seems to me that he doesn’t want to be there and for me and the Arsenal fans it’s hard to take.

“We need him. Alexandre Lacazette has to hit the ground running.

“Whoever is up front, you know Giroud will come off the bench and get a few goals, but someone has to come up with 15/20 goals.”
