Cancelo on his way

22:00: Joao Cancelo could become Antonio Conte's latest Chelsea signing within 'hours'.

Spanish publication Don Balon claim talks are progressing quickly and he could become a Chelsea player imminently.

The Portugal international remains under contract with Valencia until 2021 but Chelsea are prepared to pay around £25m to sign him.

Mourinho won't pay more than £72m for Bale

18:10: Jose Mourinho remains keen on bringing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale to Manchester United despite the Portuguese boss stating publicly the chase is over.

Spanish publication Diario Gol claim behind closed doors Mourinho is still hopeful of signing the former Tottenham star.

However, the report states Mourinho does not believe he is worth the €100million (£90.4m) Madrid value him at.

And Mourinho has made it clear he will not pay more than 80m (£72m) for his services.

Madrid cool De Gea interest

15:55: Manchester United have delayed plans to extend David De Gea's contract with Real Madrid cooling their interest.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has now ruled out making a move for him this summer and The Sun claim they will now renew their interest next summer.

The report claims the Frenchman is happy with current No 1 Keylor Navas and does not need to pursue De Gea again this time around.

De Gea still has two years remaining on his current deal and United have the option to extend for a further year.

But Mourinho and United's hierarchy have decided to wait before trying to extend De Gea's deal.

Klopp walks out of press briefing with no Coutinho questions

14:14: Jurgen Klopp walked out of a Liverpool press conference without giving time to any questions on Philippe Coutinho's future today

The club announced Western Union as their shirt sleeve sponsor this morning and Klopp gave an upbeat summary of how he was feeling about preparations for the new campaign.

But he did not make any specific reference to Coutinho, the Reds playmaker who continues to be linked with Barcelona,

And before it was opened up for questions, Klopp exited the media event.

Coutinho unveiling Friday?

12:39: Barcelona have sent an e-mail to a BT Sport journalist to prepare for the unveiling of Philippe Coutinho.

The Spanish giants have flown in representatives to seal a £120 million deal for the Liverpool star - despite the club refusing to sell.

But it appears there are already plans in place to unveil him on Friday.

BT Sport journalist Andy May tweeted today: “Already getting emails from Barcelona offering television coverage of @Phil_Coutinho Barca presentation this Friday #keen.”

Jonathan Viera staying

10:41: Jonathan Viera isn’t leaving Las Palmas, it seems.

"This has been a very important week and the president has taken a big step to confirm my future," Viera has told Las Palmas fans.

He had been linked with a move to Swansea.

No Coutinho deal close

09:40: Barcelona have NOT made contact with Liverpool over Philippe Coutinho and there are no plans for any meetings, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Balague tweeted: “Catalan press should stop using the 'it's a matter of hours' in regards of Coutinho transfer. These are the reasons...

“LFC not heard at all from FCB since that offer they received while in Hong Kong. They insist they not selling and no plans for meetings.

“FCB have strategy based in patience but also admit that if it's not Coutinho it will be another one. And that they won't overspend on him.

“Coutinho has NOT handed a transfer request, has a back injury and still behaving impeccably according to club.”

La Liga giants Barcelona continue to pursue a deal for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho

Gareth Bale IS for sale (That's what they say in Spain)

07:00: Jose Mourinho has given up on signing Gareth Bale, but in Spain they just are not buying it.

Diario Gol say the Manchester United manager had a private chat with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez after the Super Cup clash last night.

And Perez apparantly told the United boss that Bale IS for sale.

That's because Real are aware he wants to be a talisman of another team - with Cristiano Ronaldo stopping him taking that mantle at the Bernabeu.

But Madrid will only let him go for £180million.

Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona CLAXON

06:40: So, time for a bit of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

In what is becoming one of the summer's biggest sagas, the Liverpool playmaker continues to be chased by Ernesto Valverde's side.

Express Sport understands Barcelona sent a delegation of three chiefs to seal a deal yesterday.

But, in a shock twist, the Reds refused to sell and it seems that, for now at least, Coutinho is staying at Anfield.

Cristiano Ronaldo could influence Gareth Bale's Real Madrid exit

06:20: Cristiano Ronaldo may influence Gareth Bale's move from Real Madrid to Manchester United.

That's according to Steven Gerrard.

"I think does Ronaldo have a say in that? (Bale's future)," Gerrard said on BT Sport.

"Because the rumour is that he loves playing with Benzema, you wonder whether that had an impact on the new deal.

"Is Gareth going to be that fall guy? Because he will raise the big funds for Mbappe."
