Arsenal transfer fear: Club chiefs worried Alexis Sanchez could push for exit

ARSENAL are reportedly concerned that Alexis Sanchez could push for a move away with less than a month of the transfer window remaining.

Sanchez’s future has cast a cloud over Arsenal’s pre-season preparations with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain determined to snap him up.

The Chile international himself supposedly wants a move to City, where he would be reunited with Pep Guardiola, who signed him for Barcelona from Udinese during his time at the Nou Camp.

Sanchez scored 30 goals for Arsenal and, as a result of his importance to the side, Arsene Wenger is happy for him to wind his contract down.

The Frenchman has repeatedly insisted he is not for sale, despite City and PSG taking steps behind the scenes to get a deal done.

But the Mirror claim Arsenal chiefs are still sweating over his future.

It is said they fear that the saga is not over yet, despite Sanchez telling team-mates he is resigned to missing out on a move this month.

The 28-year-old will miss the Gunners’ games until the end of the month, something Wenger has credited to an abdominal strain.

“He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training, before he came to Wembley,” he said.

Arsene Wenger has repeatedly said Alexis Sanchez will not be leaving Arsenal

“He had a scan two days ago and he’s out for a while - I don’t know if it two weeks or one more week, but he will not be available. I think he will not play at Stoke, yes.

“For us Alexis Sanchez is a loss, of course. But we have all the other players prepared in pre-season and they are all ready.

“It can happen in pre-season and anyway, I don’t think I would have included him on Friday night. I don’t think I would have started him.

“He is focused. Of course when you have treatment on a medical bench, it’s not easy.”
