Danny Rose is open to leaving Tottenham and could join Man Utd

Rose has given an explosive interview to The Sun which has sent shockwaves through the football world.

The left-back has revealed he wants to move up north, he's frustrated by the lack of signings and he believes Spurs stars are underpaid.

Murphy, who played alongside Rose at White Hart Lane, now thinks he could move to United.

He said: "The interivew says 'I want to go and I want to go as quickly as possible'.

"My understanding of the situation is - and I was actually at Spurs when he signed from Leeds - is that he wants to go up north.

"That suggests Man United or City is on the cards, although they've just signed Mendy.

"So the United one is strong and he wants to maximise his earning capacity which, at 26, is quite normal as you start thinking ahead for the future.

"He knows he'll double his money if he goes to Man United."

Tottenham didn't give permission for Rose to do the interview and it comes with Spurs having not signed any new players.

Murphy added: "This doesn't look like an interview he set up himself. It looks like he's been advised to do it. The wording is very good.

"Unfortunately for Spurs suggests one thing and one thing only - he wants to go.

"It'd have been better for him to say 'I'm going to do an interview and I'd prefer it to be with your blessing'.

"The content of the interview isn't as damaging as the headline.

"Tottenham have an obligation to the fans and they've not heard much on Danny Rose, so they haven't helped themselves.

"The interview is quite sensible when you read the details.

"But it's saying 'I'm out of here unless you give me a new deal, and it better be a good 'un'."
