Man Utd are lucky to have Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford - Gary Lineker

That’s according to BBC pundit Gary Lineker, who has lauded two of Manchester United’s youngest stars.

Rashford is being tipped to hit the goal trail after a fruitful pre-season, finding the net in games against LA Galaxy and Manchester City.

Martial, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back after last season’s difficult campaign.

The France international initially blossomed after arriving from Monaco for £36million two years ago, scoring 17 times under former manager Louis van Gaal.

But that goal tally dipped to just eight last term, with Martial spending much of the season stuck behind the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard and Rashford in the pecking order.

Both players were overlooked as United slumped to a 2-1 European Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

And Lineker thinks Mourinho should look to utilise both players more given the ability they possess.

“I like Martial a lot, but he seems to be struggling to get into the United side and I would like to see Mourinho getting more from him this season,” Lineker told Yahoo Sport.

“Mourinho has some delightful selection dilemmas there and with Marcus Rashford looking like a star in the making as he comes through the ranks at United and Martial has been the one missing out.

“To have two young players like Martial and Rashford developing at United at the same time – two of the best young players in the world – is a wonderful situation for Mourinho have.

“What we know about Mourinho is that he is respecter or reputations and he has shown time and again that he will make the right decisions for his team, even if it might not always be popular.

“United have Champions League football to deal with this season and that is why they need this big squad. 

“Players like Martial may not start the first Premier League game of the season, but his chances will come this season and he needs to take them.”
