Man Utd now have the three things that can help them win the league - Gary Neville

MANCHESTER UNITED have exactly what it takes to win the Premier League this season.

Carragher and Neville face off in hilarious mastermind game

That's according to former United defender Gary Neville.

Jose Mourinho's side currently top the Premier League after the opening weekend following their 4-0 win over West Ham.

The Portuguese boss managed only a sixth placed finish last term, but having splashed the cash this summer and won titles at his previous clubs in his second year in charge, United are one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

Mourinho has added the likes of Romelu Lukaku up front to bolster his attacking options, while Nemanja Matic's arrival in midfield has added stability and shape to his starting XI.

Gary Neville believes Manchester United can challenge for the title

here is no excuse for Man Utd not to challenge for the league. That's not putting pressure on the players or Jose Mourinho, but they have to challenge with the money that has been spent and the players that have been brought in.

And Neville believes those factors are crucial to ensuring United are challenging for the title come May.

"I have never seen this league won without power and pace and a really strong spine, and it looks like United have got that," he told Sky Sports.

"They look like they are going to mount a challenge. It's day one, but they look like they have the attributes to mount a challenge for the title because they seem like they have everything.

Jose Mourinho is aiming to win the Premier League with Manchester United in his second season

"There is no excuse for Man Utd not to challenge for the league. That's not putting pressure on the players or Jose Mourinho, but they have to challenge with the money that has been spent and the players that have been brought in.

"Last season was not good enough in terms of the Premier League, nowhere near good enough. It was a massive under-performance from those players, so they have to get back up there this year."

United will look to make it two wins from two when they travel to Swansea on Saturday (12.30pm).
