Liverpool join Arsenal in race for Jean Michael Seri: Reds in talks with Nice

LIVERPOOL have made an approach for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

Jean-Michael Seri produces excellent finish for Nice against Lyon

Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer window shuts later this month and with Philippe Coutinho's future uncertain the German is looking at midfielders.

Barcelona are expected to return with a third bid to sign Coutinho despite the Reds being adamant he won't be sold.

Liverpool have explored the possibility of signing RB Leipzig winger Naby Keita but they have become frustrated with the German outfit after seeing their £66million offer rejected.

The Guardian claim Liverpool have now turned their attention to Seri.

Jean Michael Seri is attracting interest from Liverpool and Arsenal

Liverpool have made contact with Nice officials to express their interest and enquire about his availability.

The French side are under no pressure to part with Seri after selling full-back Dalbert Henrique to Inter but they have told Seri he will be allowed to leave if a respectable offer comes in.

Liverpool face competition from Arsenal and Barcelona though if they decide to pursue his signature.

Arsenal have been monitoring Seri for some time and have been in contact with his representatives in recent weeks with Arsene Wenger on the lookout for any late additions to his squad.

But The Guardian claim the Gunners are unlikely to make an offer unless they sell some players in the coming days.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the 25-year-old but it remains to be seen whether they will try and close a deal after they announced the signing of former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande today.
