Algeria winger Feghouli departs for a fee understood to be around £4 million after just one season in East London since coming in from Valencia last summer.

And now that will free up funds for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Carvalho with the Hammers already seeing a £27 million bid knocked back for the 25-year-old.

Slaven Bilic has already signed Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic this summer but the Hammers are also looking to offload winger Robert Snodgrass.

Feghouli’s last West Ham appearance came on the final day of last term where he scored in the win at Burnley. He scored four goals in 27 appearances while at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile Winston Reid has backed his side to recover quickly after they were thrashed 4-0 at Manchester United in their Premier League season opener on Sunday.

He said: “We will bounce back. We have got really good characters in the four players that we have signed.

“But we’re disappointed with Sunday and we all let ourselves down.”

West Ham have been forced to play their opening four matches away from home as their stadium was being used for the athletics World Championships.
