Chelsea up their interest in Man Utd target Perisic as Conte gives up on Candreva

CHELSEA have turned their attentions to Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to reports.

Steve Nicol: Inter Milan under no obligation to sell Perisic

Perisic has been tracked by Manchester United throughout the summer.

Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a winger and, after failing to lure Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid, made Perisic his No1 alternative.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking more signings to appease frustrated manager Antonio Conte.

And Transfer Market Web claim the Blues are looking at Perisic - and could be about to snatch him from under United's noses.

It is said Chelsea have accepted defeat in their bid to sign his Inter team-mate, Antonio Candreva.

Consequently, Stamford Bridge staff supposedly think Perisic could be an even better signing.

The 29-year-old scored as Inter beat Chelsea 2-1 during pre-season.

Conte wants a wide player to provide competition with Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses down the flanks.

However, Transfer Market Web claim United are still tracking him.

Inter have so far thwarted the Red Devils' attempts to land him, with Mourinho reluctant to meet their £48million valuation.

Yet Chelsea still may have work to do if they are to land their man.

Speaking earlier this week, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti said Perisic had changed his mind about wanting to depart.

"He is determined to remain," Spalletti said.

"He has spoken as a footballer who wants to do well based on his professionalism."
