Manchester United finished a disappointing sixth in the Premier League last season but now sit top of the table after Sunday's opening 4-0 thrashing of West Ham.

Summer signing Romelu Lukaku bagged a brace in the win at Old Trafford, while Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial also got on the scoresheet.

And after clinching a Europa League and League Cup double last term and an impressive pre-season campaign, Lingard reckons the mood in the United dressing room has changed for the good.

Lingard told Sky Sports: "There's a lot of confidence flying around at the moment.

The confidence is flowing

"And it's good that we can stick together and be a part of it.

"Even the lads who weren't involved at the weekend still played a big part in the win."

Asked if the mood has changed in the dressing room, Lingard added: "You could say that.

"We've come off the back of three trophies, so the confidence is flowing.

"The whole team is working hard this season and hopefully we'll win trophies. We're in a lot of competitions, the more trophies the better."
