Arsenal don't want to sell Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal’s Sanchez has 11 months left on his current contract and is ready to leave the club.

Manchester City are said to be preparing a £60million bid for the Chile star, while Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in his services.

Arsene Wenger has so far insisted the player will not be sold and remains hopeful Sanchez could sign a new deal before the end of the season.

But former Chelsea striker Nevin doubts the Gunners boss will get his wish.

“There are three positions (for Arsenal),” Nevin said on 5Live.

“There’s sell now. There’s keep him to the end of his contract. And there’s keep and re-sign (his contract).

“I’m trying to think what the percentages of these positions are at the moment.

“Sell: probably 50 per cent. Keep and run down his contract: 40 per cent. Keep him and re-sign him: 10 per cent, maximum.

“If he runs down his contract what he will get elsewhere will be absolutely phenomenal.”

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal ace Sanchez is going nowhere

Arsenal risk losing Sanchez on a free transfer next summer if the Chile international doesn’t pen a new deal.

But Nevin believes the threat of losing a player with a high transfer value for nothing is not what it once was.

“You look at what’s happened at football in the past and in the very recent past,” Nevin added.

“What you don’t have is people running down contracts. But I’ve been thinking today ‘so what if you’re a £50m player and run down your contract’.

“It’s not the worst thing in the world.”
