Everton have confirmed the capture of Swansea playmaker Sigurdsson on a five-year contract.

The Toffees failed in two bids to sign the Icelander before Swansea finally accepted a third offer.

And former Everton striker Nevin insists it’s a good bit of business for Ronald Koeman’s side.

“I think he’s absolutely fantastic, he’s a brilliant player,” Nevin said on 5live.

“Lots of people are saying how well he’s done at Swansea and how he’s managed to do that well at Swansea, with all due respect. He’s going to a team that’s higher up the league.

“His creativity is off the scale, I put him in the top five or six players in the Premier League last season.

“When people were scoffing at £40m or £50m I have to say I didn’t get it. I didn’t see where the surprise was.

“OK he’s no youngster anymore but wow, he’s fantastic at creating goals.”

Sigurdsson joins Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez as new attacking additions to Koeman’s side this summer.

And Nevin expressed his with that Romelu Lukaku had also stayed at Goodison Park.

“The only question is it would be great if he had Lukaku ahead of him. Maybe that’s the question that is left,” Nevin added.

“They’ve got Ramirez up there and he’s nowhere near the same level.

“They’re trying to play with probably two No 10s, they’ll try and go for 3-4-2-1 this season, but they’ve got four noted No 10s in there.”
