Philippe Coutinho wants to join Barcelona

Barcelona are determined to sign the duo after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca director Pep Segura yesterday confirmed a deal for Coutinho is “very close”, while Dembele is also nearing his switch to the Nou Camp.

And Spanish newspaper AS claim Barca are ready to break the bank to sign both men.

Barca yesterday lost to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, which prompted calls for the club to spend big on landing Coutinho and Dembele before the transfer window shuts.

And AS claim they are willing to fork out a staggering £227m (€250m) to capture the pair.

If Barcelona sign Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho it will take their spending to £300m

Barca were seemingly contempt with their current squad at the start of the summer but Neymar’s departure has rocked the club.

The report claims Barca’s bosses are willing to add Coutinho and Dembele to the £74m already spent on Gerard Deulofeu, Nelson Semedo and Paulinho.

That would take their net spend to just over £100m - a major outlay for a club who have failed to sign either of their two biggest transfer targets.

Wenger is 'very happy' Arsenal doesn't have Coutinho situation

Barca wanted both Hector Bellerin and Marco Verratti at the start of the summer but were unable to convince either Arsenal or PSG to sell up.

The right-back position remains a concern, while Paulinho was Ernesto Valverde’s second choice to bolster the centre of midfield.
