Liverpool have rejected several bids from Barcelona for their Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho throughout the summer.

But the Anfield club have been heavily linked with a move for Lanzini before the transfer deadline, if the Spanish pressure becomes too great and they are forced to sell.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic saw the start of last season damaged by the battle by playmaker Dimitri Payet to force his way out of the club but he is adamant the same situation is not going to occur with Lanzini.

Bilic said: “Manu is very happy here. He feels at home – he feels wanted. You can feel it, you can see it. You don’t have to speak to the player but if you do speak to him, you can see how he is happy here.

“He broke into the Argentine national team. So he knows if he plays here, if he has a good season for West Ham, he has a chance to improve, to sign a better contract for West Ham and play for Argentina.”

But winger Robert Snodgrass is surplus to requirements and Championship Aston Villa are interested.
