Man Utd Transfer News: Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane - report

MANCHESTER UNITED have set aside their interest in Gareth Bale but still want to plunder Real Madrid this summer, with a bid for Raphael Varane in the pipeline, according to reports.

Manchester United target Varane shows off incredible talent

Manchester United are interested in signing Bale but have struggled to make headway in a deal this summer.

Express Sport understands a move at the end of the season is a more realistic proposition.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Jose Mourinho has altered his transfer preferences with 13 days remaining in the window.

According to the report, Mourinho has decided his defence needs further strengthening and will make a move for Raphael Varane.

Centre-back Varane has been on United’s radar for some time but the Red Devils have never acted on their interest.

Real Madrid would likely put up a massive battle to keep Raphael Varane

Mourinho this week said he wants at least one more signing to take his tally of summer recruits up to four.

The Portuguese boss has already signed defender Victor Lindelof this summer and brought in Eric Bailly at the back a year ago.

Don Balon claim Real Madrid are unlikely to be receptive to an offer from United.

Manager Zinedine Zidane likes the France international and a ‘substantial’ bid would be required to prise him away from the Bernabeu.
