Mourinho lauds 'confident' Man Utd after Swansea thrashing

Mourinho has led Manchester United to the top of the Premier League with back-to-back 4-0 wins over West Ham and Swansea to kick start the campaign.

The Red Devils’ start has led to many tipping them to win their first title since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.

Gerrard believes they do have a squad capable of winning the league but reckons a new left-back and central defender are needed.

“I think they’ve got the squad compete for the title now,” Gerrard said on Sky Sports.

Mourinho has brought in three players so far in the transfer window.

Centre-back Victor Lindelof was the first of them, joining from Benfica for around £30million.

The Swede played in the European Super Cup loss to Real Madrid but he has not started the opening two league games against West Ham and Swansea, following the return of Eric Bailly from suspension.
