Ibrahimovic is currently a free agent after he was released by Manchester United after just one season at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old striker joined the Red Devils last summer and finished as the club's top goalscorer but picked up a lengthy knee injury in April.

The former Sweden captain has been heavily linked with a return to United once he's fully fit - and ESPN claim he could put pen to paper on a new deal as early as this week.

He penned a £365,000-a-week deal when he signed last year but will reportedly have to take a huge pay cut this time around.

Ibrahimovic has been doing his rehabilitation at United's AON Training Centre despite being out of contract since June.

United manager Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to keep Ibrahimovic, who bagged 28 goals in his first season in England.

When asked about the possibility of Ibrahimovic returning in January, Mourinho said: “Possible, it’s open.

"Of course we wanted to be honest and open and let everything for him to make the decision.

“At the same time let’s make a decision that makes us all happy and if that is for him to stay and for us to wait, let’s say in December maybe, because I don’t think before December he can get back to competitive football, but why not wait for a player who gave us so much.

“We are changing ideas and it’s with Mr Woodward and Zlatan’s agent but the final decision is the best for the player.”
