Luke Shaw returned for Man Utd's reserves against Swansea

The left-back, 22, was returning in a second-string game against Swansea at Leigh Sports Village.

Coincidentally, Shaw damaged ligaments against the Swans at Old Trafford last April and this was his first game for four months.

Shaw started at left-back in the 1-1 draw but he didn't have it easy. He was crippled by a first-half challenge that left Sbragia fuming at the fourth official.

Ashley Young, playing his first game since suffering a serious hamstring problem during the Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo in Spain, was also featuring and he took was on the receiving end of a clattering challenge.

But neither required treatment and the duo were subbed off in a pre-planned move on the hour.

United went a goal down before Indy Boonen grabbed an equaliser with 11 minutes remaining.

Fans had earlier expressed their excitement that Shaw was returning to action.

One tweeted "I will pray for Shaw to stay injury free" while another added "LUKE SHAW LUKE SHAW RUNNING DOWN THE WINGS."

One doom-monger tweeted United and said "Watch shaw break his leg" to which another follower responded "some type of injury is coming, it's so annoying because if he could stay fit he'd be a starter certainly".

Another added: "So glad to see Shaw and Young back, hopefully they can rack up a good bit of game time."

While a fellow fan said: "Great to see @LukeShaw23 playing."
