Liverpool News: Mohamed Salah must improve after poor Chelsea spell - Shaun Goater

LIVERPOOL’s record signing Mohamed Salah must improve his goal ratio during his time at Anfield, according to former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma for an initial £36.9million in the summer.

The Egyptian winger had a disappointing two-year spell at Chelsea, scoring twice in 13 Premier League games and being loaned out twice, before leaving permanently for Roma in 2016.

He netted 15 times last season in Serie A and is already off the mark for his new side, scoring against Watford in the 3-3 on the opening day of the season.

That makes it a total of three goals in 15 career Premier League games and Goater says he must better that, considering the amount of chances he has.

“He was at Chelsea for a spell, went overseas,” Goater said on Sky Sports.

“Left-footed, predominantly left-footed, wants to cut in on his left foot.

Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah must improve his goal ratio, according to Shaun Goater

“I think teams will look and think ‘well okay, what are you going to do if I send you on your right foot?’

“That probably is his strength at large, coming in off the line, links up really well, creates and gets a number of chances.

“His ratio needs to improve, being totally honest in regards to him, because he does get a lot of chances.”

Salah can help Liverpool reach the group stage of the Champions League when the Reds take on Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in their play-off second leg at Anfield tomorrow night (7.45pm).
