Joey Barton: I think Liverpool should sell Coutinho
Coutinho has been the subject of three unsuccessful bids from Barcelona this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder handed in a transfer request at Liverpool but the Reds were refusing to sell their star asset.
Barcelona’s move for Coutinho now looks to have ended, with the deadline they set Liverpool for accepting their offer ending on Sunday night.
However, Shaun Goater does not think Liverpool can win the league this season, even with Coutinho, so reckons they should sell him and invest the money they get on new signings before the window shuts on August 31.

“I think Liverpool have made it pretty clear,” the former Manchester City striker said on Sky Sports.
“What’s coming out of Liverpool is that they are not willing to sell him.
“Barcelona, I think all their eggs are in one basket, they want Coutinho.

“I personally think that Liverpool should sell him but try and get more.
“At the end of the day, I think Liverpool will be short, they will be short to win the Premier League.
“For me it could be good business as to what they can do with it after Coutinho’s moved on, if they accept.”
Coutinho is yet to feature for Liverpool this season due to a back injury he sustained in pre-season training.
