Barcelona transfer news: Barca eye Angel Di Maria and Jean Michael Seri

Barca had wanted Coutinho to help ease Andres Iniesta out of the side and to partly fill the void left by Neymar.

But Ousmane Dembele is the main man Barcelona are looking to get to replace the Brazil star who joined PSG for £198m.

And the Dembele looks to be moving forward with talks beginning but Dortmund are asking for £137m.

However with the Coutinho deal now all but dead Barca are turning to former Real Madrid midfielder Di Maria and Nice star Seri.

And Marca claim they hope to sign both players for the amount they were prepared to use on Coutinho.

Barca made a final offer of £118m for Coutinho but Liverpool rejected it.

The Anfield club made a stand against Barcelona and look to have kept their best player until at least January.

But with Lionel Messi’s blood pressure rising, Barcelona are still planning to spend big this summer and are looking to rejuvenate the side.

Having lost Neymar and with Iniesta on the wane Barca are desperate for creativity.

And Ernesto Valverde is now keen on Di Maria and Seri who would help push Barca back towards a challenge with Real Madrid.

The La Liga and European champions hammered Barca over two legs in the Spanish Super Cup and look way ahead of Valverde’s side.

Defender Gerard Pique admitted he felt inferior to Madrid for the first time since returning to the club from Manchester United.

And Messi is refusing to sign the new contract he agreed earlier in the summer until the team looks stronger.

Barca are thought to be in talks with Nice over a move for Seri and will make their approach for Di Maria with PSG needing to sell after the outlay on Neymar.
