Liverpool v Arsenal: Arsene Wenger's side must win at Anfield - Shaun Goater

ARSENAL must bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Stoke by beating Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday (4pm).

Furious Arsenal fans divided after defeat to Stoke

That is the view of former Manchester City striker and pundit Shaun Goater.

Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Mark Hughes’ Stoke on Saturday thanks to a debut goal from Jese Rodriguez.

The result has led to pundits once again questioning Arsene Wenger’s summer transfer business at the Emirates.

New striker Alexandre Lacazette, a £46.5million signing from Lyon, scored on his Premier League debut against Leicester but was frustrated against Stoke.

Yes Arsenal do need to win because they haven’t hit the ground running

Goater says the Gunners must turn up and take away with all three points away from Liverpool or there will be plenty of criticism coming from all quarters.

“Yes Arsenal do (need to win) because they haven’t hit the ground running,” Goater said on Sky Sports.

“They’ve bought in Lacazette, and yes he got off the mark and scored a goal, but they haven’t hit the ground running.

“They’re not flowing in the way I guess Arsene Wenger wants them to be flowing.

“So this game is vitally important for them one, to get some confidence and belief.

“Otherwise I think it will start a lot of criticism if they don’t get this result.”

Liverpool have a game before the visit of Arsenal, as they face Hoffenheim in the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Hoffenheim tomorrow, where they lead 2-1.
