ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has reportedly accepted being behind Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United as his return to Old Trafford nears completion.

Manchester United released Ibrahimovic earlier this summer following the forward’s serious knee injury.

But Express Sport understands the forward is set to make a shock return, albeit on a lesser salary than before.

Ibrahimovic struck 28 goals for United last season after joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he was sidelined until the New Year after injuring his knee in a 2-1 Europa League win over Belgian side Anderlecht.

Since then, the club have shelled out £75million to bring in Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

And the Daily Mail say Ibrahimovic is happy to be behind the Belgium international in the pecking order.

The former Barcelona hitman has supposedly acknowledged that Lukaku will be Jose Mourinho’s No1 striker, indicating the changing of the guard.

It will be a stark contrast to last term, where Ibrahimovic led to the line.

Marcus Rashford, despite shining in a centre-forward role towards the tail end of last season, was often shunted on to the wing.

Romelu Lukaku has enjoyed a good start to life at Manchester United

That appears to be the case again this season with Lukaku firmly installed as their attacking spearhead.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good start to his United career, scoring four goals from his first three games.

And he will be aiming to add to that tally when the Red Devils go up against Leicester on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm).
