Firmino was significant in Liverpool easing past Hoffenheim in their Champions League play-off second leg at Anfield, with a 4-2 win (6-3 on aggregate).

The Brazilian was influential in the first half in particular, helping the Reds into a 3-0 lead after just 21 minutes.

His assist for Emre Can’s second goal of the night had Gerrard purring at half time in the studio.

Firmino scored a well-deserved goal himself after half time to kill the game off.

“It was stunning, one, two touch football.

“Every time Roberto Firmino gets the ball, if you’re a runner in this team, your eyes light up and you get on your bike.

“He drops in deep, lays the ball off and this little dink with your left foot to put it on a plate for Emre Can is world class.”

Liverpool's will look to make it four wins in a row in all competitions when Arsene Wenger's Arsenal visit Anfield on Sunday (4pm).
