MANCHESTER UNITED and Manchester City will fare better in the Champions League than Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham - according to Martin Keown.

Mourinho lauds 'confident' Man Utd after Swansea thrashing

Manchester United and Manchester City boast Champions League winners in Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham bosses Antonio Conte, Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, are yet to win the prize during their managerial career.

And Keown thinks Mourinho and Guardiola represent the Premier League’s best chances of success.

“All things considered — the manager, the squads, experience in the competition and what I have seen so far of them this season — it boils down to Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho,” he told the Daily Mail.

“At the moment it looks like United are better equipped. Just look at their squad — they have 10 or 11 players who haven't even kicked a ball this season!

“Mourinho will be relishing the Champions League as it will give him a chance to mix up his squad.

“It is very healthy we have five teams in the draw. The quality of football in the Premier League is getting better all the time.”

Manchester United last won the trophy in 2008, during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge.

City, meanwhile, are aiming to win the prize for the first time in their history.

Chelsea were the last English team to conquer Europe back in 2012, where Didier Drogba starred as they beat Bayern Munich on penalties in their own back yard.
