MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to offer Luke Shaw a 12-month contract extension, according to reports.

Shaw, 22, signed for Manchester United from Southampton in a £33million deal in 2014.

But he has failed to live up to his price-tag due to enduring an injury-plagued time at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho criticised the England international for his work ethic in the past, and he has been linked with a move to Tottenham as a result.

He also insisted that Shaw is ‘a long way behind’ his team-mates in terms of his attitude and professionalism in April.

Shaw is yet to feature for this season after damaging his ankle ligaments last term.

But The Sun say the Red Devils are ready to hand him a new one-year deal after impressing in two appearances for the Under-23s.

And the left-back himself has insisted he is ready to prove himself and get back into the first-team frame this season.

said: “I feel that this is my season to prove myself and I’m feeling in good shape.

“I want to show everyone that I believe in myself and show the manager that.

“I’m working hard and I’ve been doing rehab each day. It’s been coming along really good.

“I’ve been running on a treadmill and doing my leg weights and making sure my foot is strong.

“I’ve also been doing a lot of cardiovascular work to keep me in good shape. I’m feeling good.

“The sooner I’m back the better and hopefully it is soon because I want to get out there playing.

“I’m in a positive frame of mind and don’t want talk too much about the past, but I do think that I’ve been unlucky with injuries.

“My leg and now this. It was unlucky. I want to put them in the past.”
