Diego Costa to Everton: Chelsea rebel would be sensational at Goodison Park - Phil Neville

That is the view of former Manchester United and Everton defender turned pundit Phil Neville. 

Costa, 28, no longer has a future at Stamford Bridge after being told by Antonio Conte via text that he is surplus to requirements. 

Chelsea have since signed Alvaro Morata for £70million from Real Madrid to replace the Spain international. 

The contract rebel is determined to secure a move back to Atletico Madrid and has refused to return to training.

But the La Liga club’s transfer ban is making it difficult for him to seal a move back to the Wanda Metropolitano.  

However, Everton boss Ronald Koeman is an admirer of Diego Costa and has refused to rule out a move for him as he looks to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United in a £75m deal. 

And Neville reckons if the Toffees were to pull of a move for Costa, he would be a great addition.

“I think he would be absolutely sensational at Goodison Park,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Goodison Park is one of those venues that like a hustle and bustle centre forward.

“Someone that’s going to get angry. Someone that’s going to kick and bully the centre-backs.

“He’s not going to go there because he wants to go to Atletico Madrid but Everton have the money to attract that kind of player now.”
