Graeme Souness: Liverpool should take Barcelona's Coutinho bid

Liverpool are set for a busy final few days in the transfer window.

Dominic Solanke, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah all joined Liverpool quite early in the summer.

But their transfer business sparked back into life yesterday with the news an agreement had been made with RB Leipzig to sign Naby Keita in 2018.

Liverpool are still linked with a move for Virgil van Dijk while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Renato Sanches are also rumoured to be targets.

For that kind of money they’ve got to sell him

Phil Neville on Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho’s future remains up in the air with Barcelona set to make a fourth and final bid in the coming days despite Liverpool insistence the Brazil international will not be sold this summer.

But former Manchester United and Everton star Neville believes Liverpool should accept the offer and reinvest in the squad.

“I think the owners of Liverpool are dealing with the Coutinho situation,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Jurgen Klopp wants it dealt with and probably the board have took over and yesterday he avoided al questions talking about Coutinho.

“For that kind of money they’ve got to sell him, reinvest in the squad and I think they will be better off for it.”

Coutinho is currently on international duty with Brazil and has been deemed fit enough to play in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Liverpool didn’t seem to miss the 25-year-old at the weekend in their 4-0 drubbing of Arsenal with Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge all getting on the scoresheet.
