Thomas Lemar to Liverpool: Reds offer £74.4m PLUS Divock Origi on loan to Monaco

LIVERPOOL have offered Monaco €80million (£74.4m) plus Divock Origi on loan in a final attempt to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Thomas Lemar skies shot and takes shockingly bad free-kick

French newspaper L'Equipe claim Liverpool have submitted an improved offer and are prepared to send Origi on loan.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bring the France international to Anfield and is running out of time to get a deal over the line with the window closing at 11pm on Thursday.

Yesterday, reports suggested Liverpool had tabled an offer of £66.6m to Monaco but the Ligue 1 champions swiftly rejected it.

But the Reds have now returned to the table with an improved offer with L'Equipe claiming they will offer £46.5m up front with the rest being paid next summer.

Liverpool are now awaiting a response from Monaco's vice president Vadim Vasilyev.

Liverpool transfer news: Divock Origi could go on loan in order for Thomas Lemar to join the Reds

Origi has managed just nine minutes of action for the Reds this term and Klopp is ready to let him leave for the season as he doesn't want to hinder his development as a player.

Despite Origi being tipped for a bright future, Jurgen Klopp is drawn to Lemar’s versatility with the 21-year-old able to play anywhere across the frontline and usually on the left.

The France international can also be deployed as a left wing-back and would give Klopp options if he decides to experiment with his formation.

Lemar registered 12 goals and 14 assists for Monaco last season as they won the French league and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco

Klopp recently refused to rule out the option of the Origi spending time away from Anfield.

On the possibility of signing players before the 11pm deadline and Origi leaving on loan, Klopp said: “We will see.

"That's not something to talk about here. If players come in, I think it makes sense to think about what we do on the other side. They're obviously involved in this (the players). I'm not sure, we will see, you have to wait."

Origi remains under contract with Liverpool until 2019.
