Arsenal transfer news: Man City favourites to land Alexis Sanchez despite Man Utd interest

MANCHESTER CITY remain favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez despite late interest from rivals Manchester United, according to the bookies.

Ray Parlour slams proposed Sterling and Sanchez deal

Sanchez is desperate to quit Arsenal before Thursday’s deadline and City have made contact this morning.

But Manchester United are also in the race and Sanchez’s representatives are believed to have made contact with the Old Trafford club to analyse interest.

City remain Sanchez’s preferred destination as he looks to team up with former boss Pep Guardiola again.

And bookmakers Coral believe a move to Manchester City is more likely and have cut him from 2-1 to 1-2 to be a City player by Friday.

Manchester United are 5-1 behind City and current club Arsenal to have Sanchez for the season.

PSG and Barcelona are 16 and 20/1 respectively.

“Alexis Sanchez is now odds-on for the very first time to be a Manchester City player at the end of the summer transfer window which suggests this deal is now likely to happen over the next couple of days,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Hill added: “Sanchez may not be the last of City’s signings before the window slams shut as they are also the favourites to secure the signature of Jonny Evans from West Brom.”

Alexis Sanchez looks set to leave Arsenal this summer with Manchester City keen

Sanchez made his first appearance of the season as Arsenal crashed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and made clear his frustrations on the pitch.

He wants to leave after Arsenal missed out on Champions League football and City are ready to pay around £70m despite there being just 12 months left on his contract.

Reports today have suggested a player could go the other way with Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling mentioned, but it is understood City are keen on a cash-only deal.
